TWISTED CHRIST

1976
Bronze, Valsuani foundry, 1992-1993
101.5 x 67 x 22.5 cm

At the back of the cross, at the bottom: signature « Salvador Dalí », stamp of the Valsuani foundry, cire perdue and numbering 1/8 to 8/8 and I/IV to IV/IV.
The original in wax was made by Dali in 1976. It is at the Dalí Museum in Figueras today.
This wax model has been preserved by means of a liquid plastic protective coating.
For the benefit of Qu Art, Michel Lorenzi made a neoprene mould from this original wax figure for a unique posthumous edition in bronze, in 1992-1993.
A cast was made and corrected by a craftsman (using 1/1 photographs taken by Robert Descharnes) who removed all the droplets added by protective plastic coating.
No original or multiple edition was made during Dalí’s lifetime.
Between 1992-1993, Qu Art made 12 originals in a Florentine green patina numbered from 1/8 to 8/8 + 4 artist’s proof numbered from I/IV to IV/IV.
Two not-for-sale copies were made for the artist or his heirs, plus one F cast, a non-marketable proof of the foundry.
450 multiple bronze sculptures were cast measuring 50 x 33 x 13 cm.
At the back of the cross, at the bottom: signature « Salvador Dalí », stamp of Fonderia Bonvicini and numbering…/450
